A couple of days ago I purchased MARK WILLIAMS C for about $170. The package included two Double Sided disks, and a large manual (the manual seems very thorough). After about one hour I was able to install a workable version on my system, a 1040st and a single sided drive. The manual states that MW C requires two double sided drive (or a hard disk) but I got around this with a ram disk and some patience (there are single sided versions available from MW company). The compiler and linker appear to be fairly quick (quicker than lattice, or GST...) with the hello world program compiling and linking in about 90 seconds from floppy disk. In addition the libraries seem extensive, including floating point. MW C comes with MicroEmacs and a micro shell. IO redirection works, including pipes (special)! I haven't yet had time to play the editor... If anyone has test suites they would like me to try please send them via e-mail... I will post results... and perhaps have more comments after the manual is sufficeintly broken in... MM
