Gee I always thought "horse opera" referred to "The Girl of the Golden West".:-)
(This would make "Tod in Venedig" a "gondolier opera"?)

If this is the criterion, I've never heard of a "space opera".  There is, of
course, the insomnia-curing gem, the film "Just Imagine", but that would only
qualify, at best, as a "space songspiel"?  :-)

Frankly, I'm desperately awaiting "Lucky Starr ..." to be mated with scores. :-)
