Preliminary remark: my own 1040 has the UK keyboard, but various other keyboards exist around Europe. Usually, they allow the extra accented characters by use of the alternate key. Of course, the normal keys are moved around (QWERZY, AZERTY, etc.). My own word processing needs are mainly english, but sometimes I need german or french. 1st word will deal with this, but in a clumsy way. Question, therefore. Are there keyboard reconfiguration programs which allow not only changing keys, but also adding them via the alternate key (my own has no reaction to use of this key). Of course, any reconfiguration should be compatible with whatever word processing package I decide to use, and I don't know yet which that will be. A biento<backspace>^t.
