We just purchased an Atari 520ST. What a machine! There are many things about it that are excellent, bordering on incredible. However, regarding communications, the ST has several difficulties, which may well be due to my lack of knowledge (hence this posting). In addition to the ST, we have several UNIX systems which can transmit data among themselves at 9600 baud via uucp with no problems. The ST can be tied into this network as a terminal with no difficulty, but (BUT), transfering files and ,preferably, whole directories of data to and from the ST is VERY time consuming. 1) Does someone have a method available to allow the ST to use a uucp protocal? 2) Does anyone have any local networking suggestions that would assist us in using the Atari ST as a part of our local network? Kermit and Xmodem are fine as far as they go....but what about local networks at a reasonable cost? Ideas/suggestions that could be useful to everyone should be posted. Thank you, Flames and VERY specific suggestions should be mailed to: Gary Lewin {texsun!rrm, convex!mcomp}!mic!gary
