[net.micro.atari16] Comments on MicroEmacs 3.7

long@sask.UUCP (Warren Long) (09/21/86)

I am very impressed with the latest version of Emacs that has been
posted.

A few comments:
-if you hit F10 you just exit, no questions asked. I find
	this a little scary.
-When run in colour mode, I only have a colour tv, so it is
not worth using, the characters are difficult to read.
So, I am using the Hi50 program in monochrome. I would love
to modify Emacs 3.7 to use all 50 lines on the screen.
	Source would be nice...
-I opened my monitor and expanded the vertical resolution.
Definately a very good idea. 50 lines was pretty scrunched
before, and now it seems almost as legible as 25 line mode.
(Yes, circle generated by graphics programs are a little too
tall, but I am not complaining... as an aside, can I expand
the horizontal size too??? I didn't see any obvious way to
	do it.

Thanks

Two more comments:

1. Saving to disk is incredibly slow with microemacs 3.7 (I experience "long"
waits even saving to a ramdisk)

2. The black border is a nuisance.

Any chance we may be given the sources to correct these problems?

only if the file has not been modified, if you have changed anything it
will ask you if you are sure etc.....

the new version (3.7i) will support 3 resolutions: low and med for
color-corresponding to 25x40 and 25x80; and med and hi for b/w-
corresponding to 25x80 and 40x80
source will go back to Dan Lawrence to be included into the production
version of MicroEmacs for future releases, please send him or me any
changes that you make so that we can have a single ST port for sanity
