Just a quick note on some OS/9 stuff. I just got off the phone with the nice folks at Microware and have a little news. They say that FORTRAN for OS/9-68k (full 77 standard) goes to beta test in October. Expected release date is Nov. 1. They said a couple of big FORTRAN users have been after them for months, so now, said users have been tapped to be beta testers. It's only fair. I asked about the "COM" package, it cost $125 and does include a terminal emulator. I will post a short review when ever I get it. They also claim to be working on windows and some niffty graphics software. Look for it at the next COMDEX. Also of note, TLM (porters for Atari) say they will have the VDI interface ready sometime the last quarter this year. That's all the news for now. Richard Piner piner@galileo.UUCP

For os9 communications, you might want to try kermit. It's available from the normal kermit distribution channels, and from the os9 users group. (Disk 48) I don't know if anybody has it available on ST 3.5" format. I'd like to hear confirmation that it works on the ST, but don't know of any reason it shouln't. General Os9 discussion probably belongs in mod.os.os9 rather than net.micro.attari16. -- Bob Larson Arpa: Blarson@Usc-Eclb.Arpa or blarson@usc-oberon.arpa Uucp: (ihnp4,hplabs,tektronix)!sdcrdcf!usc-oberon!blarson
