[net.micro.atari16] Missing Gem Functions?

Ulrich.wbst@XEROX.COM (10/06/86)

Balma and Fitler's book contains references to three Gem Functions that
are available on the IBM version of Gem. These functions are not listed
in the Abacus book. They are:

appl_find
appl_tplay
appl_trecord

Are they missing from the Atari implementation?

They are present in the Atari implementation. There are bugs in
appl_find (see the gem bug list that a posted a few days ago), where
appl_find will find an application even if the application goes away, until
another application is loaded. If you caught Mark Skapnniker's (sp?) article
in the new STarT, he comments that appl_t* functions are very inefficient.
Did you notice that the Balma and fitler book are missing all the vdi input
and vext_* functions. I wonder why? Anyway, when in doubt never trust those
brain damaged Abacus books!!
