[] I hope this is not too commercial... I have an Avatex 1200 and am quite happy. But if you're still shopping, I just got a catalog from Priority One Electronics where they have a tiny thing (a wee bit larger than the usual AC adaptor) that plugs into an AC socket and has phone and RS232 connectors on it. It is claimed to be a Hayes compatible auto-dial auto-answer 300/1200 baud modem, complete with speaker. I suppose that's one of the new modem designs using the new 1200-baud modem-on-a-chip chip. Expect others soon, and probably price drops... They sell it now for $129 (RS232 cable not included). Their address is: 21622 Plummer St. Chatsworth, CA 91311 (800) 423-5922 But then, my Avatex 1200 has DIP switches for all kinds of settings, and also has nifty LEDs and an on/off switch... - all missing from that little thing... - Moshe Braner
