[net.micro.atari16] ARC and ALITE comments

cbz@mhuxl.UUCP (Craig B. Ziemer) (10/13/86)

I guess I'll add my two cents to the ARC/ALITE saga. I was able to
successfully unpackage ARC and ALITE, uudecode and download to my ST.
Then I ran ARC.TTP on ALITE.ARC and got the proper files. When I
double-clicked on ALITE.PRG I saw the introductory slide with instruc-
tions on how to continue and heard some beautiful Bach-like music.
However, when I tried to continue (with the "N" or "S" commands)
nothing happened. So my question is, does 1ALITE.PIC contain only
the intro slide or is there more? The music was impressive, but I
expected to see more. The only possible problem I noticed was that
Xmodem told me it was transferring 192 blocks for ALITE.ARC, but 193
were actually transferred. Any suggestions Rich, or anyone else???

Finally, someone got it to work! The "problem" is that I sent only
one *.sng and *.pic file with alite.prg. I had thought of distributing
some more of the *.sng/*.pic combos, but decided not to (in light of all
the recent grumblings about large volumes of mail). Those of you wishing
to acquire more of the original alite music should send email to me, and
I'll email the stuff directly to you.

I'll take whatever you are willing to send.

It drives me mad to see that people don't dare to post useful (or at
least interesting) material, while literally everyday 100s of KBs of
*trash* flood the net. Post your *.sng/*.pic combos.
