[net.micro.atari16] 1040 & composite monitors

Does anyone know for certain if a 1040 will output a color composite
signal? I know a 520 will (I have a friend with a 520 who hooks it up
to a composite monitor), but my 1040 doesn't seem to output composite,
even though the pin diagram in the back of the 1040 manual indicates
that it should. I read a short piece in Compute's ST magizine that
said 1040's don't have composite, only 520's do. My dealer doesn't
know. Help please -- my monochrome screen is extra sharp & nice, but I'd like
to see FujiBoink at least once on my own ST.

If the 1040 can't (which I am lead to believe) could somebody
let us know if there is at least a board, or kit, or set of instructions
or something to let us do it ourselves?

					Thanks,

Maybe sometime in the future, but not now. This really ticked me off when I got
my 1040. The decision to release them without composite or RF output seems to
have been made at the last minute, as the manual shows you where to hook it up,
and there's a different texture in the plastic at the rear of the case where
the RF output ought to be. Plus they give Neochrome away with the computer so
you can watch it not work on a mono screen. If someone knows a way to get
composite output I'd like to know how.
