Does anybody have any information/suggestions/references on the subject of incremental compiler-compilers? By this term I mean either of two kinds of programs, namely: - Tools for building incremental compilers, and - Compiler writing tools which operate in an incremental fashion. Also, is there any canonical reference on the subject of incremental compilation, and what is the current state of the art? Any information, whether based on first-hand knowledge, hearsay, or ouija board would be greatly appreciated. Reply to: nichola@ohio-state.ARPA [I have seen some papers on things like tricking yacc into restarting a parse, but little formal stuff on issues like symbol tables for incremental compilers. -John] -- Send compilers mail to ima!compilers or, in a pinch to Levine@YALE.EDU Plausible paths are { ihnp4 | decvax | cbosgd | harvard | yale | bbncca}!ima Please send responses to the originator of the message -- I cannot forward mail accidentally sent back to compilers.
