It makes a very good main course or side dish. .PP You don't have to soak the lentils ahead of time! .IH "Serves 4" .IG "1 lb" "washed lentils" "500 g" .IG "8 cups" "water" "2 l" .IG "1" "celery stalk," chopped .IG "1" "onion," chopped .IG "1" "carrot," sliced .IG "2\-4" "garlic cloves," diced .IG "2 cups" "diced tomatoes" "500 g" .IG "2 tsp" "cayenne" "10 ml" .IG "2 tsp" "chili powder" "10 ml" .IG "1 tsp" "cumin" "5 ml" .IG "" "salt" (to taste) .PH .SK 1 Put all the ingredients in a pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover. Cook for about 45 minutes or until beans are tender.
