Thanks to Jim Roche of Univ. of Rochester for pointing out that
the recent TEXMEX-REFRIED recipe calls for 34 cups of cooked pinto beans
instead of 3 to 4 cups ("3\-4 cups" in troff-speak).
Barry Bakalor of Pyramid Technology has put me on the trail of a Unix
spelling checker that actually works. The only decent spelling checker to
which I have access is written in DEC-20 assembly language, and I usually
don't have the time to FTP the files over to a DEC-20 and back for a spelling
check. As a teaser, Barry has sent me a list of some typos in the recipes
posted so far, and I have fixed them all in the archives. Here's the list, if
anyone wants to fix his own copy (or waste bandwidth by retrieving from the
archives the copies in which I have applied Barry's fixes)
Barry's program also called "cummin" and "corriander" spelling errors. In
this case, they are not, as the people who submitted recipes using those
spellings were from India, and in that country those are the preferred
spellings of the words that we in the U.S. spell "cumin" and "coriander".
I don't think it's appropriate to impose U.S. spelling on all recipes.
