Eros Descending Mike Resnick Signet, 1985 (paperback) Eros Descending is the third in the Velvet Comet trilogy. It appears to be the last, barring prequels. The trilogy is based on the 87-year history of the "Velvet Comet", the most exclusive, extravagant, and exotic pleasure-dome ever created. It is first and formost a brothel, and the hero of each book is the madam. The series is good light reading, lots of fun and some imaginative sexual images. Eros Descending deals with the Reverend Thomas Gold who's extreme fundamentalist group wants to shut the sinners down. Actually, he wants to shut down the organization that owns the Velvet Comet. <Spoilers deleted here :-> On my scale of -4 to +4, I'd rate this book a +1. It's a good fast read, interesting, and generally fun. It isn't a deep book, and the characters are generally caricatures, but that's part of the fun. It's only available in paperback, and it's worth buying when you get a chance. The whole series is the same, worth buying for light entertainment. -- Stephen Perelgut Computer Systems Research Institute, University of Toronto
