Due to a major electrical system problem at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, all systems there are presently either down or off the network. This affects the news/mail hosts lll-tis, lll-crg, lll-lcc, lll-winken, lll-ncis, and the gateway from the Internet to the site-wide backbone network. The Laboratory is closed today (7/1) to deal with the problem; however, there is a chance that the systems will be down for the entire holiday weekend because the support staff may not have site access to get them rebooted, etc. All mail sent to or through LLNL should be re-sent early next week if it got bounced for non-delivery; news feeds to downstream sites will resume as soon as possible. We don't have any more information, but will post a followup when more is known. Sorry for the inconvenience. Michael C.
