[ut.supercomputer] Alliant, Convex, and DEC have licensed NFS

daemon@utcsri.UUCP (The devil himself) (01/16/86)

I don't want this sound like an advertisement, but I thought it might be
of interest to this group. Alliant and Convex are both makers of Unix-based
super-minicomputers, the so-called "crayettes". DEC of course makes the Vax line.
These companies are only some that have signed up to support the Sun Network
File System, which allows workstations and other computing resources to
share files using standard DARPA Internet protocols. Some of these companies
will be demonstrating the NFS at the Uniforum conference next month. Sun
will also be demonstrating a system for remotely executing programs from
your workstation on any of these "compute servers". Reply by mail for further
details.
