Silicon Graphics Computer Systems in conjunction with the Ontario Centre for Large Scale Computation will make two presentations/ demonstrations on the topic of "Application of High Performance Graphics in a Supercomputing Environment" Date: Friday, January 15, 1988 Location: Room 182, Koffler Student Services Centre, 214 College St., University of Toronto. Session 1: 10:00 am - 11:00 am Formal Presentation 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Discussions & Questions Session 2: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Formal Presentation 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Discussions & Questions The speaker, Dr. Marc Ondrechen, formerly with the University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute, has had extensive experience in the application of high performance graphics in supercomputing. His talk will consist of discussions of real world research problems in the areas of astrophysics, chemical engineering, astronomy, etc. which have been addressed using this technology along with demonstrations of the results of some of these applications shown on the new IRIS 4D/70 Superworkstation from Silicon Graphics.

Although I was out of town and didn't make the demo, one note that may be
of interest: there is a 4D/60T (the 4D/70's immediate predecessor, about
six months old) on campus, in Zoology. Unfortunately we are not on the
campus net yet, so its usefulness to supercomputer users may be limited
just now.
