[net.music] Songs about pervertions

nessus@mit-eddie.UUCP (Doug Alan) (10/08/84)

I really like tastefully done songs about pervertions. (As opposed to
perverted songs.) Not very many people are weird enough to do them,
though. The Kinks have some.

Kate Bush (who by the way, next to Pink Floyd, has created the most
awesome music ever to have existed in any galaxy or dimension) has some
really good ones. "The Kick Inside" is about a girl who is comitting
suicide because she is in love with her brother, who has gotten her
pregnant:

	. . .
I'm giving it all in a moment or two
I'm giving it all in a moment for you
I'm giving it all, giving it, giving it -- giving it
This kicking here inside makes me leave you behind
No more under the quilt to keep you warm
Your sister I was born -- you must lose me
Like an arrow shot into the killer storm
	. . .

"The Infant Kiss" from "Never for Ever" is about a woman who is falling
in love with a little kid:

	I say goodnight -- night,
	I tuck him in tight,
But things are not right --
What is this? An infant kiss,
	That sends my body tingling.
	I've never fallen for,
	A little boy before,
	No control,
Just a kid and just at school,
Back home they'd call me dirty,
His little hand is on my heart,
He's got me where it hurts me.
Knock, knock, who's there in this baby?
You know how to work me.

	Chorus:
And all my barriers are going,
	It's starting to show.
	Let go, let go.

	I cannot sit and let,
	Something happen I'll regret,
	Ooh, he scares me,
There's a man behind those eyes,
I catch him when I'm bending.
	Ooh, how he frightens me,
	When they whisper privately,
	Windy-wailey, blows me,
Words of caress on their lips,
	That speak of adult love.
I want to smack but I hold back,
	I only want to touch.
But I must stay and find a way, to stop before it gets
	too much.

	Chorus

Peter Gabriel, who is a friend of Kate Bush, also has some good ones.
"Intruder" is about a guy who likes to break into women's houses at
night:

	. . .
I like to feel the suspense when I'm certain you know I am there
I like you lying awake, your bated breath charging the air
I like the touch and the smell of all the pretty dresses you wear
	. . .

"I Have the Touch" is about a guy who is into frottage:

The time I like is the rush hour, cos I like the rush
The pushing of the people -- I like it all so much
Such a mass of motion -- do not know where it goes
I move with the movement and . . . I have the touch

I'm waiting for ignition, I'm looking for a spark
Any chance collision and I light up in the dark
There you stand before me, all that fur and all that hair
	Oh, do I dare . . . I have the touch
	. . .

Know of any others?

(is this thing on?)

Well, there's "Cemetery Girls" by the guys who did "Fish Heads", which
is, I hope, self-explanatory. Roxy Music's "Dream Home Heartache" is about
a man's love for his inflatable doll. Depreche Mode did something that must
have been called "Master and Servant". The Kink's classic "Lola" comes to
mind, but homosexuality might or might not qualify as a perversion anymore.

When I first heard Roxy Music's "In Every Dream Home A Heartache", I thought
it was pretty funny that someone would do a song about love for an inflatable
doll, but when I heard another song and then later a third one on the same
subject, I said to myself "what is this obsession that rock musicians have
with inflatable dolls?" For those of you who are interested in collecting
songs about inflatable dolls, here are the other two I've heard:

The Police - "Be My Girl -- Sally" from their debut album "Outlandos D'Amour"
Pukka Orchestra - "Rubber Girl" from their self-titled debut album released
a few months ago. By the way, Roxy's is on their second album, "For Your
Pleasure", which I believe is the last Roxy album on which Eno appears.

re: "perverted" lyrics

i have an album by a michael perlitch with a cut "pete, the bondage freak".
the title is a bit of a misnomer; instead of than honest B&D fan, the "hero"
is a kidnapper/rapist... lemme know if you want a sample of the lyrics.

How about "I Eat Cannibals" by Total Coelo?
