This colloquy will discuss relationships between inductive reasoning, learning,
evolution, and computer designs.  Professor Burks will discuss recent  work  on
classifier  systems that he has done together with his colleague, John Holland.
Copies of a background paper, "A Radically Non-Von  Architecture  for  Learning
and  Discovery",  are  available  in the Philosophy Department's Brogan Reading
Room.
