Applications are now being taken for two positions on the Computer Science
staff at the University of Rochester.

Positions: Lead Programmer/Analyst: will be expected to maintain

		the department facilites, assist department
personnel in their usage, and provide technical direction
to junior staff members. Great latitude is given in
project choices, and may include work on departmental

advanced educational goals, and the ability to take
		advantage of other on-campus facilities.

Rochester:	Rochester is a compact city in the Finger Lakes area of
New York State, with a rich cultural life and a low cost
of living. The University of Rochester is private, with
strong research groups in many fields. The Computer
Science Department has twelve full-time academic positions,
forty PhD students, five full-time lab staff members,
		and no undergraduate program.

Laboratory:	The Computer Science laboratory has two Butterfly computers
(16 and 128 M68000 processors) and forty VAX, SUN, Xerox
Dandelion and Symbolics computers all connected by ETHERNET,
with connection to Arpanet and other campus computers. The
lab continues to expand, as well, with the planned acquisition
of TI Explorers, more SUN workstations, additional UNIX
workhorses, and more vision related equipment. The Department
and laboratory will be moving to new facilities in a
		custom-designed building sometime in 1987.

Qualifications:	BS in computer science, electrical engineering, or other
traditional discipline such as math. Strong background of
computer science training, including UNIX experience,
knowledge of 'C', and 3-5 years general programming
experience. MS or PhD preferred. Previous VAX or SUN
experience, graphics experience, UNIX kernel work, work in
communications, or LISP programming experience a plus.
