From: Roberto.Bisiani@VLSI.CS.CMU.EDU, Computer Science Department, Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. The Agora project has three full time positions available: two Research Programmer positions and a "system integration manager" position. Agora is a software environment that supports the description, execution and evalutation of parallel systems on parallel processors. Agora supports multiple languages (C and Lisp) and is implemented on top of the Mach operating system. The project has currently six full time people and a number of microvaxes and perqs. Perqs will be substituted with IBM RT-PC's as soon as possible and a multiprocessor microvax will also be added. Agora is funded under the DARPA Strategic Computing Program. Candidates for the first Research Programmer position should have a very good knowledge of either Lisp or C and an understanding of operating system problems. Candidates for the second position should have a good knowledge of C and be willing to do some programming in TMS320 assembly code. In both cases, people should be interested in partecipating in system design. Candidates for the "system integration manager" position should have some Lisp programming knowledge and be especially good at negotiating with a number of groups and individuals in order to coordinate the integration of application code under Agora.
