[mod.vlsi] SPICE Version 3

XBR1YD22@DDATHD21.BITNET.UUCP (06/09/86)

Could some kind soul please answer my questions?

1) I read on this list that there's a new Version of SPICE
available, Version 3, written in the C language. Is the
source code of this program also available so that one
might port the program to other machines with C compilers
(esp. the powerfull/low priced new 68K machines)?

2) I heard roumors that all CAD tools/software/whatever is
considered "high technology" and *NOT* to be exported from
the US - (confirm/deny?) - does SPICE 3 also fall in that
   category ?

Thank you very much

It is distributed on a source-only basis by the ILP office at Berkeley. The
person to contact is:

Spice3 is very portable -- it runs on a wide variety of machines and operating
systems, including the IBM PC, the HP 9000 series, the VAX, several 68K boxes,
etc...

There is a policy something like that -- I'm not sure of the details, but I
think you are not allowed to export spice to Eastern-bloc countries. It will
be spelled out in the source agreement you recieve with spice3.
