[ from MacBriefs, Vol. 1 #1, Oct/Nov 85 ] TURBODOWNLOADER Desk Accessory from Mainstay, $39.95 [ why not $40 ??!! ], allows users to download at double speed (2400 Baud) even though you don't have the hardware for it. (This piece of software should catch on like wildfire, since it pays for itself in nothing flat) Error checks in all 3 ways possible to insure accurate reception. Mainstay also introducing a revolutionary BBS system in winter. Above, cited word for word, seems to be saying that the speed can be doubled with a software tool *AT ONE END of the connection ONLY*, which makes no sense to me. Now with compression software at both ends, something can be achieved, but I'd still not believe a categoric claim of *DOUBLING* the speed, without qualification on the type of data being transmitted (how about binaries!!) Anyone care to take this hot potato and run with it ??
