I received a new telephone device today. It it passive, has a modular plug and jack and connects between the line and a telephone (or any device which plugs into a telephone line). When any other phone on the line is taken off-hook, the device disconnects the telephone which is plugged into it. So, if, for example, an answering machine, connected through this device, is answering the telephone, and an extension is picked up, then the answering machine will be disconnected -- a most useful feature. It can also be used with speakers, monitors, etc. It seems to be a well-made, reliable device. It is caled Fonealone and is made by Sparrevohn Engineering 143 Nieto Avenue Long Beach, CA 90803 dgc
