Thanks to those who responded to my previous message. I think I now have an address that will work reliably. Here is a reposting on an old message that I don't think made it through. -------------------------------------------------------------------- We have just received our new B8k (6 processors), and it seems to be running very nicely as a Unix multiuser system. Our plan is to observe it in action to learn more about multiprocessor measurement and performance characteristics. As a first step in this direction, we are wiring cards to be placed in the Multibus box, to detect and acknowledge writes to specific Multibus memory or I/O addresses. The Multibus box presently contains four cards: the Multibus interface card, two Systech cards jumpered together which handle the 16 RS232 ports, and a card which appeard to be only an interface to the tape drive. We are trying to find answers to the following questions: (1) How does one write to specific absolute Multibus memory or I/O addresses from a user program? (2) What address spaces are taken up by the other Multibus cards, so we will know what addresses to avoid in designing our own cards? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
