[mod.computers.workstations] Welcome to the WorkS Digest

Steiner@RED.RUTGERS.EDU (Dave) (10/26/85)

Hello,

Welcome to the WorkS mailing list. WorkS discusses personal work
station computers, like the Apollo, BBN's Jericho, the Three Rivers
Corporation PERQ, and the Xerox STAR. WorkS provides a way for
interested members of the ARPAnet community to discuss what is wrong
with these machines, compare notes on work in progress, and share
useful insights about these kinds of systems. The list is managed by
Hank Dreifus <DREIFU at WHARTON> and moderated by Dave Steiner
<Steiner at RUTGERS>.

This publication is produced in "digest" form and is mailed only when
there is a sufficient amount material gathered to create the digest.

A complete record of the WorkS discussions is maintained in the list's
archives. The current archives are in the following file covering the
dates shown.

Please note that you do need to login to FTP files from Rutgers. We
provide an account named ANONYMOUS, which you log into with any
password (you must type a password). People who cannot obtain copies
of files themselves may request copies of the file by sending mail
to WorkS-REQUEST@RUTGERS. Unfortunately, there currently aren't any
arpa sites that can hold all of the WorkS archives online. If you
need to gain access to older issues, you will have to send a request
to WorkS-REQUEST@RUTGERS. Since the file mentioned above is not
trimmed on a regular basis, you should try to find an old issue
there first.

Comments about the ongoing discussions should be addressed to
WorkS@RUTGERS. Administrative requests (eg. a message asking to add
someone to the mailing list) or questions about the goals of this list
should be addressed to WorkS-REQUEST@RUTGERS.

Lastly, welcome to WorkS. I trust you will enjoy being part of these
discussions.

PS WorkS is the new name of the old APOLLO mailing list. The
name was changed to reflect the fact that the mailing list
discusses all kinds of personal workstations.
