Check out: "The design of int. comp. displays" - A guide to
       literature - ISBN 0-916313-08-5 July 1985, which is available
       for $125 at (913) 842-7348. It has author index of 3000 names
       and 625 pages with emphasis on User Interface.

Have a look at "Inside Macintosh", especially the section on
guide-lines for user-interface.
