Re: prandt!mike@AMES-NAS.ARPA, on health hazards from VDTs-- >Anybody know an optician who makes special glasses 'optimized for >hackers'? As a bifocal wearer who got tired of looking at fuzzy screens (which are at the distance which seems perversely WORST, at the boundary between the near and far ranges), I finally bought a pair of TRIfocals, and they are WONDERFUL. Any bifocal wearer who spends much time in front of a CRT should order some immediately; any optician can make them, but they don't usually tell you about them unless asked. They also can make CONTINUOUS-focus lenses. I'm not sure how good these are-- they don't seem to be able to use much af the lens area in the critical middle-distance range-- and I would love to hear from any other over-40s who need bifocals and have tried these or other innovative eyepieces.
