[mod.computers.workstations] Workstations in the classroom

don%gitpyr%gatech.CSNET@CSNET-RELAY.ARPA (Don Deal) (09/10/86)

We are currently considering purchasing between 30 and 40
workstations to be used in a classroom/lab-type environment. We plan
on supporting a maximum of 3 users per workstation (1 graphics
display and 2 rs-232 ports), and other requirements include Berkeley
4.2 (or equivalent), a megabyte of of physical memory per user,
approximately 0.5 MIP per user (no flames on the merits of MIP
ratings please), and a distributed file system.

Although we have already received numerous vendor proposals, we are
interested to learn if any other universities have a similar
classroom configuration. Of course, any other comments or
suggestions are welcome.
