[mod.computers.pyramid] pyramid stability

This is a copy of an article I just posted to talk.rumor... If anyone
wishes to discuss this with me, I will do so over the phone or through
private mail.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

A recent _Datamation_ article about Pyramid says that Mirror Systems, a
Times-Mirror subsidiary, recently purchased a second Pyramid only
because we received a deep price discount. This is patently false, and
had anyone at _Datamation_ contacted anyone at Mirror Systems they
would have so learned.

In point of fact, Pyramid's final competitor gave us deeper discounts
than Pyramid did. Our decision to stay with Pyramid was made by our
president, with advice from our two vice-presidents, our hardware
person, and myself. The decision was made solely for technical
reasons.

We are an ethical company; we treat our business associates that way,
and in turn we expect to be treated that way ourselves. The _Datamation_
article is an appalling example of journalistic negligence. Many of us
at Mirror Systems have little doubt that this article is part of a
general smear campaign against Pyramid. Such campaigns are offensive
to responsible professionals; companies involved in them deserve to be
driven out of business.
