We have 3 Canon engines (part of Imagen 8/300 systems) that have printed more than 100,000 copies each, and are still going strong. The company that had maintained them under contract now refuses to do so unless we replace the engines at a cost of $2200 each. We have in-house mechanical and electronic technicians who maintain similar equipment, and who have been to training sessions on LPB-CX maintenance. These people will probably maintain the print engines. We haven't yet obtained pricing information on parts. (but haven't looked..) Since most of the problems associated with wear are presumably the same parts that are used in the Canon copier that costs much less, the $2200 charge for rebuilding what is essentially a paper transport seems a bit pricey. Has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so, how did you solve it? Has anyone attempted to maintain their own Canon engines on any system (HP, LaserWriter, Talaris, etc.)? Please respond to "FMAtchley@lbl.arpa", or this list. Thanks.

it's very pricey since my understanding is that the OEM cost of the entire Canon engine (new) is about $750. -------
