The University of Lowell's CS dept is considering purchase of laser printing equipment. We currently have an LN03 for small text jobs. Our needs are pretty basic now, but we're heading towards a lot of research/techical reports, and will need integration of graphics, etc. I'd guess that loads would average around 5-10K pages/month. I have read laser-lovers for a few months now; have documentation on most of the big players' products, etc. Instead of (or before) a massive research effort into the matter, I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Should I look into 1 24p/m printer, or 2 12p/m printers? Tradeoffs, maintenence cost wise? Postscript support? Ethernet capabilities? Why do you have the machines you do now? Are you happy with them? What would you buy now that you (ahem) know better? In short, I'm taking a survey, and would appreciate any help you could offer. Please mail directly to me, I will summarize and post responses to the net, as I'm sure this is common interest. Thanks already! ..Bob CSNET: page@ulowell ARPA: page%ulowell.csnet@csnet-relay UUCP: ..!decvax!{wang,wanginst}!ulowell!page
