In follow-up to my posting of 17 Jan. 86 about some problems I was experiencing with my LaserWriter... The smudging problem was cured by a thorough cleaning of the fuser assembly and everything else after the cartridge. Apple implies, in the maintenance section of the LW manual, that changing the wiper on the fuser rollers (the one that comes with a new cartridge) is sufficient to keep the rollers clean. My service rep says different, he thinks the rollers should be cleaned manually at least twice during the life of a cartridge (or approx. every 1500 pages.) How many of you print that many pages every month? No sign of the problem reccurring on the 150 pages printed since it was cleaned. It was cleaned with a soft rag and a _very_ little alchohol after the assembly was allowed to cool. No dirt (toner) was apparent on the rag after cleaning but the box worked fine so I'm making the rash assumption that the problem was cured. Hope this is some help to those of you experiencing the same problem. Glen Foster GFOSTER@ISI.ARPA -------
