Interleaf does indeed sell machines. They are Sun workstations, Imagen printers, and very expensive scanners. I suspect that they add a tidy little mark-up to the "real" price of these machines. The software is pricey, but worth every penny if you need to produce high- quality, composite documents. If you are at a university, check out their new University Publishing System (UPS), if not, well, too bad. Before you spend 5-digit dollars on their Imagen printer, I recommend a good look at a 4-digit dollars Apple LaserWriter Plus. Interleaf will soon support PostScript drivers, and thus, not only the Apple, but DataProducts, QMS, and soon (by year end) DEC printers, as well as Allied Linotype Corp laser typesetters at 1400 and 2540 dots-per-inch. I can also direct you to a couple of articles on Interleaf: Buday, Robert, "Interleaf Gets Intertwined With Corporate Publishing", InformationWEEK magazine, February 17, 1986, p. 59 Freedman, Beth, "IBM Moves into Electronic Publishing", PC Week magazine, February 11, 1986, p. 5 Giglio, Louis, "Users Document the Success of Electronic Publishing Systems", InformationWEEK magazine, November 25, 1985, p. 22 Goodman, Danny, "Publishing Turns an Electronic Leaf", MACWORLD magazine, July 1985, p. 70 Hope these are helpful.
