Here at the Naval Coastal Systems Center we have about eight HP Laserjet printers. We are driving them from a VAX 750 using UNIX bsd 4.2 . We are looking for a good nroff or troff type text formatter. Ideally it would be able to use proportional spacing, font selection, and the advaced features of the Laserjet plus. We have tried the system from Elan software but discovered that: 1. It replaces our existing nroff/troff libraries and is not conpatible feature-for-feature with the old nroff. 2. The printer must be installed on a dedicated port. This second item is a major drawback because most of our printers are installed in individual offices around the base connected to 9600 baud terminals and/or are used with software on an IBM PC. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. ARPA: steve@ncsc ATT: (904) 234-4224 -------
