[mod.computers.laser-printers] Request for advice

RAF@NIHCU.BITNET.UUCP (07/20/86)

I am interested in laser printers that satisfy the following
requirements:

(1) Can attach to an IBM PC or compatible via a parallel or serial
port (another interface might work if there is a DOS device
     driver for it).

(2) Can stack paper in normal (not reverse) order (a stacker
     attachment might be ok).

(3) Can be used for both normal data processing printing and TEX
printing, preferably without manual switching of modes.

(4) Are supported by a TEX device driver that can run on an IBM 370
MVS system (the printer will not attach directly to the 370).

(5) Are reasonably priced for their speed.

Both the QMS Lasergrafix 800 and 1200 and the Imagen printers have
been suggested to me. Can anyone suggest reasons as to why one would
be prefered over the other and/or suggest other possibilities?

Thanks in advance.
