We recently had our QMS Lasergrafix 1200 upgraded to a Talaris, running version 2.9 of the firmware. The printer hangs off a terminal port of one of our VAX 11/780s (we have 4 running VMS 4.3 under a cluster configuration.) We purchased a proportional font library from Talaris and a product called the Font Manager which performs the downloading and deleting of fonts automatically. The problem we are having is the following: when we try to download and print samples of a large number of fonts, the printer dies and we get an FF (system failure) on the printer's controller. We've tried lowering the linespeed to 4800 and we've run tests on the memory with no success. Also, the problem does not always happen at the same spot in the file we're trying to print. Any ideas?
