Iowa State recently acquired a Xerox 4050. We are generally impressed with the operation of the device but we are having two annoying software problems that have to do with processing DJDE's. The first problem is that the first DJDE record after a page eject is ignored by the 4050 if you have told the machine you're going to be doing graphics and text. The second problem is that dynamic memory does not seem to be getting thoroughly cleared after DJDE processing. After so many jobs, we get an INSUFFICIENT DYNAMIC MEMORY... message, the 4050 stops accepting input, and we have to print out the remaining jobs in the 4050's spool and reset the machine before it will accept any more work. This happens about once every 45 minutes to one hour depending on load. We are also having some problems with the Xerox software zapping its own accounting file every so often and we have to recreate a proper version of the file before we can print again. All of these problems have been SPARred with Xerox. We were wondering if any body else out on the net has had any experiences likes these and what they did about them. John Hauck Iowa State Univ.
