Richard Furuta complained about uneven print distribution on his LaserWriters. We have had six LaserWriters for some time now; two are hooked up to an AppleTalk network, and four are hooked to an IBM 3081 through RSCS. The two that get the heaviest use have printed over 160,000 pages each. I have never seen this particular problem, though sometimes when a cartridge is almost spent it gets light streaks in the middle. We have found that if the cartridge is taken out and rocked back and forth, we can get another few hundred pages out of it. Once or twice we have had to do this to a new cartridge -- perhaps the toner gets compacted. We usually get about 6000 pages out of a cartridge. I ran his test program on three different LaserWriters, and none of them looked great. They each had small bands of lighter and darker print, either horizontally or vertically. Printing large areas is not the LaserWriters forte. The print from all three of these machines looked fine though.
