QMS is advertising a replacement image processor for the LaserJet (or any Canon based machine) that fits in place of the current processor board. It is advetised as user-installable (is that a word?) and goes where the font cartridge/"control panel" section sits on top of the engine. List price is around $3000 and they want your old processor in exchange. I have no experience with this product so I can't recommend it. It does seem to be priced about $500-$1000 too high (my how jaded we've become!) Glen -------

I think I read in this month's Byte that QMS has a board that will allow an HP Laserjet to understand Postscript. However, at $3000 list price it seems too expensive unless you can get it heavily discounted. After all, how long is it going to be before you can buy a complete Postscript laser printer for that much? -- Pablo Ghenis
