We have several MicroVaxes running DEC's PCSA software serving VAXmates and ATs. Both the ATs and VAXmates are running MicroSoft Windows as the primary operating environment so we are using more and more graphics- intensive applications (Draw, Write, In*a*Vision, PageMaker). These applications push our HP LaserJet Pluses to their limits. Therefore, we are looking for a faster departmental printer which we can hang off of our MicroVaxes (we consider DEC's PS-40 too expensive). We are not particularly concerned with what printer "language" is correct since all applications talk through Window's printer drivers. We have been considering HP's new LaserJet 2000. This printer is available with a serial, centronics, or Dataproducts interface. Which would be best? HP does not recommend the serial interface for graphics-intensive applications. What distance constraints are there for the centronics and Dataproducts interfaces. Has anyone some experience with this that they could share. Thanks in advance.
