I plan to implement Brian Reid's archive server software very soon to make available the PostScript print files for many documents that are of interest to PostScript developers. The way this mechanism works is to mail a specific request to the archive server, and it will in turn mail you back some files or a list of available files (or an error message, if you mail it nonsense). When I work out the details of this, I will post a message describing how to access these documents. Since we are not an ARPA site, it is not feasible to support FTP access to them, and the mail archive seems to be a reasonable way to promote access to these documents and files. Here is a list of what is planned for the archive server: * AFM files for all released fonts * Developer's notes and documents * Sample PostScript programs, as appropriate * APD files for current PostScript devices, when they become available * A list of currently available PostScript printers, their manufacturers, and salient features. * A sample Adobe Illustrator file, for those interested. * Lists of known bugs * Sources of further information (for instance, the PostScript Language Reference Manual). * perhaps others My hope is that this will help eliminate us as the bottleneck in emanating useful information to PostScript developers. Suggestions are welcome. Glenn Reid Adobe Systems PostScript Software Support
