Someone was bemoaning the fact that only Linotronic fonts were available for PostScript printers from Allied, via Adobe. The most recent Seybold report previewed a Varityper 600-dpi fine-toner laser printer. The machine is supposed to come with a 20Mb hard disk in the lid, and the Atlas controller from Adobe. But more significant than the speed of the controller, the storage available (as opposed to ROM) for fonts, or even the twice-as-good resolution is the announcement that the fonts will be AM(?)'s and not Allied's. So, presumably, some day in the far future, you'll be able to get disks with Allied fonts and other disks with others' fonts, all commercially licensed and reduced to curves at Adobe! Which is wonderful -- how often have you heard someone say "wish they'd get around to doing <insert your logo type font here>..."? Brian
