Has anyone out there modified the Internet (TCP/IP) code on the Apollos to handle subnetting? We are in the process of combining our myriad of local networks into a single Class B network (128.97) with subnetting, but our Apollo ring is presenting a roadblock. We don't have system sources for the Apollos, and the best we've been able to get out of Apollo Inc. so far is that they will probably have subnetting in their next generation of code (due to come out in a year or so -- we CAN'T wait that long!). A bit-mask implementation (along the lines of ARPA RFC950) would be the ideal solution. Failing that, though, we would be willing to settle for a patch to the code which would allow us to treat Internet addresses beginning with "128.97" as Class C instead of Class B (admittedly a Dis- gustingly Evil Hack, but beggars can't be choosy). Thanks in advance for any help. -- Rich Wales // UCLA Computer Science Department // +1 213-825-5683 3531 Boelter Hall // Los Angeles, California 90024 // USA ARPA: wales@LOCUS.UCLA.EDU -or- wales@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA UUCP: ...!(ucbvax,ihnp4)!ucla-cs!wales
