I just recently discovered a bug in our copy of the V2 file access demo (transparent file access to BSD 4.2 machines) which I've fixed with some help from Jim Rees of Apollo, the original author of the demo. The bug was that every time a file was edited with the Display Manager the owner ship of the file would be determined by which node you were logged into, not by who you had logged in as. The ownership of the DM seemed to be determined by who was the first person to log into the node after the node had been booted. This bug is apparently due to the way the DM interacts with the unix getuid call. Anyhow, Jim found away around the problem and I have patched our V2 sources. If anyone else has run into this bug and wants the patch, send ne mail and I will mail you back the sources. -- David Krowitz mit-erl!mit-kermit!krowitz@eddie.mit.edu mit-erl!mit-kermit!krowitz@mit-eddie.arpa david@mit-mc (in order of decreasing preference)
