Two items of business: First, I've received a number of requests for Hack, the ever-popular public domain Rogue. Hack is very large and I've been unable to keep a separate pristine set of shar files sitting around waiting for requests. This means that I have to remake the shar files from the sources every time I get a request, which is mildly annoying. Also, my sources have been hacked (pun intended) and are no longer guaranteed to work like "vanilla" Hack. The gist of this is that I am willing to make Hack available for FTP about twice a year. I'll be placing the shar files in /pub shortly. Grab Hack now or forever hold your peace (or at least for six months). Second, I've gotten a number of requests for TeX for the Apollos. I do have TeX running on the Apollos, but my version is based on a set of mods I found /pub at Yale. I believe these mods come from Bill Gropp, but I've never been able to get him to answer my mail so I can't be sure. I've been waiting for someone at Yale to distribute the mods, but since it appears that no one there is interested, I'm going to distribute my mods. A number of caveats: First, I'll be distributing only change files. This means that you'll need the "vanilla" TeX distribution; I took ours off of a 4.3 machine. Second, this distribution will not include the TeX previewer. Again, that appears to be Bill Gropp's work and I don't feel that it should be distributed without his consent. Third, this is not work for a casual hacker. My changes will come without instructions and to judge by my experience, it may take several days of hard work to get TeX running. Your best bet would be to get a TeXpert to handle building the TeX. DON'T bother me with a lot of bug messages, unless it appears that I genuinely screwed something up - like leaving a file out of the distribution. If you are interested in TeX for the Apollos, look for a tar file in /pub for FTP within a day or two.

My first attempt to send this failed at Yale; looked like the mailer threw up. My apologies if you receive this twice.
