[Bugs! Give me bugs!!!!] I, for one, like to know what monsters are lurking out there waiting to bite me and rip my system to shreds, *especially* if there is a workaround or solution to the problem. I like to know about potential problems *before* they hit so that when they do hit I know what's happening. Any security holes will be found out about by a hacker sooner or later, so I'd like to have the edge on him by knowing what to expect. I want to know as much or more than he does, and beat him at his own game. I do agree with the suggestion of setting up a "secure" mailing list, if only to attempt to keep that information from falling too quickly into the wrong hands, and with the suggestion that that be sent to something like INFO-VMS-SECURITY (I love forwarding addresses!). Any real determined hacker will find out what's in that mailing list, but he'd find that information out anyway. At least this way us system manager types can get that information before it's too late. -- Chris Yoder UUCP -- {allegra | ihnp4}!scgvaxd!engvax!chris Hughes Aircraft Company ARPA -- engvax!chris@cit-vax.ARPA
