I am trying to establish a dynamic asynchronous decnet connection from a MicroVax II to a 780 (both running 4.2). The symptom of the problem is that after I start the connection with SET TERM/SWITCH=DECNET/PROTOCOL=DDCMP, the connection does not occur. Both circuits are in on-starting state. I am not getting verification rejects. The transmit and receive passwords are set correctly as is the inbound node type. Now, all I have to do to get the circuit started is on EITHER node change the appropriate password to something wrong, at which point I start getting verification reject messages from OPCOM. Then I change the password back to what it was supposed to be, and the circuit completes. Since I can do the password toggling on either node, it seems like things must be set up correctly in the first place. The passwords are setup in both the permanent and volatile databases. I can also get the circuit to complete by setting the circuit to disable verification. Any ideas?
