This note is in reply to Peter van Schie's message about DECNET-DOS. If you are trying to run DECNET-DOS you want to make sure about some of the following things. I apologize if you've already checked these out, but I've run into some common problems around here. 1. Make sure the DECNET running on the VAX is full function. 2. Make sure the DECNET area number of the VAX and the PC are the same. 3. Hard set your baud rate on the VAX port. Do not use AUTOBAUD. 4. Make sure the parity of the VAX port is set to none. These seem to be the common problems. We've run DECNET-DOS here on Rainbows, IBM-PC's, and ITT IBM-PC clones with good results. One major problem we ran into was running binary protocols over our AT&T ISN network. Sometimes the line will get xoff'ed and not come back. Direct connections to the VAXcluster here work with no trouble at all. Mark Hittinger Systems Programmer IV University of Louisville OCIS South Center Louisville, KY 40292 BITNET: sysmsh@ulkyvx
