Right after VMS V4.2 came up, our terminals connected to our Sytek broadband network (9600 baud, XON/XOFF flow control on the broadband) started doing the same thing. I changed the setup of the terminals at boot time from: $ Set term/perm/modem/hangup/dialup/disconnect to: $ Set term/perm/modem/hangup and the problem went away. DEC could not explain this. About a month later, whenever one of our sec'ys tried to upload a file from their DECmates (they were DIRECT connected at 9600 baud), the same thing would happen. We solved the problem with: $ Set term/perm/readsync/hostsync DEC (VAX FSEs) could not explain this beyond finger pointing. Just about a month before we went to V4.2 we replaced all our DZ-11s with DHU-11s. So I don't know if it was/is V4.2 or the DHU-11s. In any event, we don't see the problem any more. The SYSGEN/TTY params are basically at default V4.2 except for altypeahead buffer size and DEFPORT (undocumented). If you need everything else related to our terminal characteristics, let me know. ..Bob Internet: page%ulowell.csnet@csnet-relay.ARPA Usenet: wanginst!ulowell!page
